Willis Swain Scholarship Opportunity

The Mississippi Funeral Directors Foundation will be giving out an additional scholarship annually in memory of MFDA long-time member, Willis Swain, who passed away in 2017. Swain began working with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in 1956 where he began his long and storied career in funeral service. He graduated from John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN. Swain served on several MFDA committees and as an MFDA District Governor for many years. He was also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and was appointed in the mid-1980s to serve on the Mississippi State Board of Funeral Service. In 2006, Swain was recognized by the MFDA for his 50 years of service to our profession.

The Willis Swain Scholarship Award is offered to help further the education of those that wish to enter our profession and follow in the footsteps of great Funeral Directors, such as Mr. Swain.
